Resumo: The aim of this article is to present an overview of Brazilian cinema's renewal movements, from the current century on, marking the consolidation of a non-hegemonic cinema in sharp contrast to the mainstream cinematography supported by the public policies of the period. Using the term "garage cinema", we propose to investigate the relationship between the changes in the models of production, criticism, and curation during the period.
