Resumo: Mapping knowledge is not an exclusive trait of the so-called qualitative research. On the contrary, it is one of the stages common to any design and type of research. Furthermore, it is one of the key steps in the path of every researcher. And, preferably, it is the first to follow because not only does it allow placing one’s study towards prior knowledge, but also framing one’s own research. Thus, in this text, we start by presenting our perspective on what it is to map research, highlighting some of its features to bear in mind. We then briefly refer to different possible ways to achieve it. Finally, we describe the Meta-model to Analyze and Explore Scientific Knowledge® (MAECC®), a specific and innovative way of mapping research, in any field of study.

C’est encore une des étapes essentielles dans le parcours de chaque chercheur. Et, de préférence, la première à faire, parce qu’elle lui permet de situer sa recherche face au savoir construit a priori et mettre en perspective, et ensuite soutenir, les apports que sa recherche puissent amener. Ainsi, dans ce texte, on commence par clarifier ce que l’on perçoit par mapper la recherche et on met en évidence quelques éléments à tenir en compte pendant son élaboration. Après, et brièvement, on fait référence à différents chemins possibles pour l’achevoir. Enfin, on spécifie un chemin particulier et innovateur pour mapper la recherche, en tout domaine du savoir, en présentant le Méta-modèle de l’Analyse et Exploration du Savoir Scientifique® (MAECC®).O mapeamento do estado do conhecimento não é exclusivo da investigação dita qualitativa, mas é, pelo contrário, uma das etapas comuns a qualquer desenho e tipo de investigação. É, além disso, uma das etapas essenciais no percurso de qualquer investigador. E, preferencialmente, é a primeira que este concretiza, não só porque lhe permite situar o seu estudo face ao conhecimento antes construído como ainda perspetivar e, posteriormente, fundamentar, o contributo que a sua investigação puder vir trazer ao conhecimento. Assim, neste texto, começamos por clarificar o que entendemos por mapear investigação e salientamos alguns dos aspetos a ter em conta na sua realização. Referimo-nos, depois e brevemente, a diferentes caminhos possíveis para o fazer.
