The discovery of the Regimento do Ofício de Ladrilhadores from the city of Lisbon, dated from 1608, whose text is now revealed, gives us the opportunity to better understand the organization of the tile-layers and to follow their history until the second half of the 18th century. On the other hand, the minutes of a voting occurred in 1736, signed by forty two tile-layers, lead us to a new knowledge about the biographies of the masters identified so far. The reconstruction of the networks that included the tile-layers, painters and potteries related with the ceramic wall coverings, is a long and slow way that the researcher must follow nowadays.
