Resumo: The present dissertation intends to build a critical thinking about the relationship between the public space and the queer community, resorting to a historical analysis in the context of the city and the territory of moments and spaces relevant to the sexual and gender liberation movement. We aim to understand the importance of the collective public space and sociabilities for the search, evolution and affirmation of identity and sexuality, as well as the influences of social aspects such as gender, ethnicity, social class, age, etc., in accessing these spaces. It is our intention to give visibility to queer flows, spaces, movements and experiences and to highlight problematic points or insecurities that urbanization presents to the community. It is not our goal to arrive at a conclusion or a final solution that tries to respond to these complex themes, but rather a reflection, resulting from the analysis of historical moments and relevant spaces, which contributes to the creation of notes for a more inclusive territory. As a starting point, the question arises: How, as architects who 'build' urbanization, urbanity and give meaning to 'urban being', can we create a more inclusive territory and, on the contrary, what can be the negative role of public space design, when used, consciously or unconsciously, as an 'oppressive' tool.
