Resumo: Contemporaneity and its subsequent flows and mutations are reflected in all domains, including architecture. Circulations emerge, be it from people, objects or information even. The network of systematic displacements is complex and constitutes a very particular characteristic of the phenomenon which we call globalization. Therefore, the contemporary city thus arises as a set of fluid areas, inhabited by multiple architectural objects, sensations, images and weird and chaotic poles of attraction. To question contemporaneity is perhaps but a mere search for the frontiers which originate its diversity, displacements and, often, their paradoxology. A current motivation desires the incorporation of these displacements by architecture, breaking with the its own conventional paradigms, which would originate a non static configuration of the landscape defined by its complexity and multiplicity. A dialectic between the individual and the work would then stand out. The individual and its actions would also stand out, as sensitive and reactive attitudes. The individual would be valued, not just by the definition of a space more approximate to the ergonomic care, but also by searching for its sensitive, perceptive and reactive dimensions. Upon acknowledging the need of an architecture which is more sensitive to the frequent changes of our contemporary world, this dissertation aims to seek the work produced by the Danish artist, Olafur Eliasson, as a motivation for a better framing of architecture in contemporaneity. Obviously, at the heart of this discussion we shall find phenomenological issues, the relationship between the object and observer, the presence of the individual and the embodiment of the space. For this reason, the purpose of this reflection is to record the contemporary mutations, at a time when their experimental tendencies aim to fuse specific fields of arts and sciences, both human and exact. It shall be important to reposition the field of architecture within contemporary reality, to assess the overcoming of its disciplinary limitations, as well as its contaminations.
