Gender Political Violence: The Circulation of Meanings in Communicational Episodes of the 2020 Elections

Resumo: The article analyzes the circulation of meanings about news related to political gender violence involving the candidate for mayor of the Brazilian city Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sull, Manuela d’Ávila, during the second round of the 2020 municipal elections. The intention is to map and understand the communicative episodes (BRAGA, 2017), based on journalistic articles published by the UOL news portal to identify meanings that circulate on the theme of political gender violence. The research is based on the concepts of circulation and society in mediatization (Neto, 2018). Initially, a timeline was made to assist in the panoramic inferential analysis of the four episodes. Then, we used the Iramuteq lexicometric analysis software to find evidence of the main meanings in circulation through the use of word clouds. We identified four axes of transversality present in the episodes: (a) attacks against Manuela d’Ávila; (b) UOL's positioning; (c) flows beyond the news; (d) praise for Manuela d’Ávila.

El objetivo es mapear y comprender los episodios de comunicación (BRAGA, 2017), a partir de artículos periodísticos publicados por el portal de noticias UOL para identificar significados que circulan sobre el tema de la violencia política de género. La base de la investigación se fundamenta en los conceptos de circulación y sociedad en mediatización (Neto, 2018). Inicialmente, se hizo una línea de tiempo para ayudar en el análisis inferencial panorámico de los cuatro episodios. Posteriormente, se utilizó el software de análisis lexicométrico Iramuteq para encontrar evidencias de los principales significados en circulación mediante el uso de nubes de palabras. Identificamos cuatro ejes de transversalidad presentes en los episodios: (a) ataques a Manuela d'Ávila; (b) la posición de UOL; (c) fluye más allá de las noticias; (d) elogios a Manuela d'Ávila.  Analisa-se a circulação de sentidos sobre reportagens relacionadas à violência política de gênero envolvendo a candidata à prefeitura da cidade brasileira de Porto Alegre no Rio Grande do Sul, Manuela d’Ávila, durante o segundo turno das eleições municipais de 2020. O intuito é mapear e compreender os episódios comunicacionais (Braga, 2017), a partir de matérias jornalísticas publicadas pelo portal de notícias UOL para identificar sentidos que circulam sobre a temática da violência política de gênero. A base da pesquisa alicerça-se nos conceitos de circulação e da sociedade em midiatização (Neto, 2018). Inicialmente foi feita uma linha do tempo para auxiliar na análise inferencial panorâmica dos quatro episódios. Depois, utilizou-se o software de análise lexicométrica Iramuteq para encontrar indícios dos principais sentidos em circulação por meio do recurso de nuvens de palavras.
