Resumo: | The rehabilitation of the current common housing is, nowadays, one of the biggest challenges faced in Architecture and by its professionals. This dissertation is motivated by this challenge. With the focus on the exteriors openings, we intend to analyze strategies and explore lines of thought of the architect's design process, when faced with the need to rehabilitate existing wooden frames, included in a global architecture rehabilitation process. The practical investigation begins with the example of House Ricardo Severo, in Porto, a current project accompanied by the author of this dissertation. Rehabilitation projects by portuguese architects, considered exemplary, are also analyzed, which may synthesise different ways of intervening. These rehabilitation processes are documented, using, whenever possible, the comparison between the original building and the rehabilitation project, through constructive detailing. The aim is to contribute to the systematization and consolidation of knowledge on the subject, making it available to the academic community and to those who face this problem professionally. |
