O perfil dos presidentes nas organizações desportivas da Região Autónoma dos Açores

A maioria das Organizações Desportivas, em Portugal, são de cariz amador. Neste contexto, a maioria dos dirigentes desportivos (presidentes), prestam serviço de forma voluntária. A única diferença entre uma organização desportiva e uma organização normal é o meio envolvente com o desporto. O presente estudo tem como principal objetivo caraterizar o perfil funcional de competências do Presidente nas Organizações Desportivas da Região Autónoma dos Açores. Participaram no estudo quarenta e seis Presidentes das Organizações Desportivas da Região Autónoma dos Açores (n=46), dos quais quarenta e um de clubes desportivos e cinco de Associações Desportivas. O instrumento de recolha de dados utilizado foi um inquérito por questionário, este encontra-se organizado em duas categorias, a primeira diz respeito ao Perfil do Presidente, sendo que a segunda se refere a Tarefas/Atividades do Presidente. Após a análise dos resultados do inquérito por questionário, as funções e áreas de competências mais valorizadas pelos presidentes foram, planeamento/organização, coordenação e direção e por fim, controle e avaliação. No entanto, dedicam mais tempo à coordenação e direção. Contudo, relativamente à formação dos presidentes e ao número de anos que exercem o cargo de presidente, são apresentadas diferenças significativas no grau de valorização nas funções e nas áreas de competência estudadas; ABSTRACT: Most sports organizations in Portugal are amateurish in nature. In this context, most sports leaders (presidents) volunteer. The only difference between a sports organization and a normal organization is the surroundings with sport. This study aims to characterize the functional profile of competences of the President in the Sports Organizations of the Autonomous Region of the Azores. Forty-six Presidents of the Sports Organizations of the Autonomous Region of the Azores participated in the study (n = 46), of which forty-one from sports clubs and five from Sports Associations. The data collection instrument used was a questionnaire survey, which is organized into two categories, the first concerns the President's Profile, and the second concerns the President's Tasks / Activities. After analyzing the survey results by questionnaire, the most valued functions and areas of competence by the presidents were planning / organization, coordination and direction, and finally, control and evaluation. However, they devote more time to coordination and direction. However, regarding the formation of presidents and the number of years that they hold the position of president, significant differences are presented in the degree of appreciation in the functions and areas of competence studied.
