Resumo: | Books about “secrets”, which hint at the revelation of the mysteries of nature, became popular during the Middle Ages, particularly those pertaining to medicine. Espe-cially widespread were books of women’s secrets, halfway between theoretical and practi-cal medicine. This paper analyzes the modes of transmission of these female mysteries, which have always been subjected to taboo. They arose from Arabic translations, were influenced by popular medicine, were written down by the Salernitan authors and finally were added to 14th-century compendia. |

Los libros sobre "secretos", que pretenden revelar los misterios de la naturaleza, se hicieron populares durante la Edad Media, particularmente aquellos centrados en la medicina. Especialmente difundidos fueron los libros de secretos de mujeres, a medio camino entre la medicina teórica y la medicina de corte práctico. Este artículo analiza las formas de transmisión de estos misterios femeninos, que siempre estuvieron condicionados por el tabú. Su origen parte de las traducciones árabes, pasa por la medicina popular, fueron escritos por los autores salernitanos y finalmente se agregaron a los compendios del siglo XIV.Les livres sur des “secrets”, qui prétendent révéler les mystères de la nature, sont devenus populaires pendant le Moyen Âge, principalement ceux axés sur la méde-cine. Les livres les plus répandus ont été ceux concernant les secrets des femmes, à mi-chemin entre la médecine théorique et la médecine pratique. Dans cet article, nous ana-lysons les formes de transmission de ces mystères féminins, qui ont toujours été condi-tionnés par le tabou. Leur origine commence avec les traductions arabes, passe par la médecine populaire, ils ont ensuite été écrits par les auteurs salernitains et ont finalement été insérés dans les recueils du XIVe siècle.Os livros sobre ‘segredos’, que pretendiam revelar os mistérios da natureza, tornaram-se populares na Idade Média, em particular os que se focavam na medicina. Especial difusão tiveram os livros de segredos das mulheres, que se situavam entre a medicina teórica e a medicina prática. Este texto analisa as formas de transmissão destes mistérios femininos, que estiveram sempre condicionados pelo tabu.
