Essa diminuição deve-se à aposta nos jogadores formados internamente, por parte da SAD.This paper addresses the issue of intangible assets in Sports Corporations, more specifically the accounting for football players, and their importance in their assets. Football is no longer an activity of just entertainment, where the clubs are managed by the members, becoming an activity with economic purposes, which require organization, legal and accounting support, through its management to be done by professionals. During this transition is created a legal concept of the Sports Public Limited Company. The football players are becoming very important to the patrimony of the clubs. So their accounting becomes an important aspect in financial statements of Sports Corporations. The buying and selling of players, sometimes involving millions of euros, as well as internal formation of players contribute in a relevant way to the value of the assets of Sports Corporations. The author analyzed the annual reports of the three biggest clubs in Portugal, regarding the way accounting for their players, purchased from outside entities, as well the player who were formed internally, because both contribute to the assets of Sports Corporations, but accounting standards require a different accounting of each. The purpose of this study is to deepen the study on the accounting of players' rights as well as verify at the importance of the players in the assets of Sports Corporations. To achieve this goal we analyzed the reports and accounts of the three largest Portuguese clubs, from the seasons of 2003/2004 to 2008/2009, in order to determine the accounting treatment of the players, both those that are purchased from outside entities, such as those are formed internally. It was found that with the adoption of IFRS, on the part of Sports Corporations significantly increased comparability of financial information, but still not mentioned the treatment of home grown players. With the exception of home grown players, we can conclude that the recognition and measurement of sports rights is in accordance with the accounting standards. We also demonstrate that the importance of football players in the assets of Sports Corporations, has increased significantly in recent times sport with the exception of Sporting SAD, where he had dropped. This decrease is due to bet on home grown players by the SAD.Escola Superior de Ciências EmpresariaisSoares, Maria Helena Silva dos Santos AlãoRepositório ComumBarroso, José2013-05-27T19:15:10Z2011-022011-02-01T00:00:00Zinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisapplication/pdfhttp://hdl.handle.net/10400.26/4286porinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Científico de Acesso Aberto de Portugal (Repositórios Cientìficos)instname:Agência para a Sociedade do Conhecimento (UMIC) - FCT - Sociedade da Informaçãoinstacron:RCAAP2023-11-21T09:49:31Zoai:comum.rcaap.pt:10400.26/4286Portal AgregadorONGhttps://www.rcaap.pt/oai/openaireopendoar:71602024-03-19T23:05:44.481374Repositório Científico de Acesso Aberto de Portugal (Repositórios Cientìficos) - Agência para a Sociedade do Conhecimento (UMIC) - FCT - Sociedade da Informaçãofalse |
