Resumo: Introduction: The donation and transplantation of organs and tissues represent today a growing reality. The family of the potential donor of organs and tissues faces from the beginning of hospitalization a set of challenges and various feelings. In the favored relationship that nurses establish with the family, it is essential that they integrate strategies that facilitate the remarkable experiences that the family goes through. Aim: identify the experience of the potential donor's family in the process of organ and tissue donation; identify professional strategies that family members point out as facilitators in experiencing this process. Materials and Methods: Development of a systematic literature review, using the PICo strategy: Population (P) - family; phenomenon of interest (I) - perception / experience; context (Co) - organ donation. Bibliographic research was carried out in the CINAHL, Pubmed, Nursing & Allied Health Collection, Mediclatina databases. It was carried out in february 2020, using the descriptors: organ donation; family; perceptions. Results: 8 articles were selected that show the family's experience in the organ donation process, as well as family-centered nursing interventions. Conclusion: The family of the potential donor of organs and tissues faces feelings and emotions on the confirmation of death. Nurses must support, help, care and facilitate the understanding and experience of this complex process.
