Dando sequência a um possível desígnio no período dos reinados D. Manuel e de D. João lll onde se sugere a existência de duas praças Reais ribeirinhas a oriente e a ocidente de Lisboa. “Porta Oriente" é a proposta para a resolução e, em certa medida, a conclusão para o que historicamente se pode considerar a tentativa consistente de abrir uma praça a nascente tornando-a uma realidade e de modo, a abrir-se como nova praça ribeirinha Esta “Porta” equaciona a necessidade histórica, política e fenomenológica da existência destas praças reais (ou de terreiros) na frente de água assim como. De que forma, se inserem a nível territorial. Com o intuito de se entenderem as suas implantações e as suas relações estratégicas pretende-se trazer uma analogia com a atualidade em função de um novo reposicionamento (reproposing) urbano das frentes fluviais lisboetas, a nascente; ABSTRACT: Following a conceivable purpose present during the reigns of Manuel I and Joao lll of Portugal. which implied two royal squares near the river Tagus, one in the west of Lisbon and another one in the eastern part of Lisbon, `Porta Oriente’ (Eastern Door) is the proposal for the resolution and to a certain extent the conclusion of what historically can be considered a consistent attempt tor a square facing the rising sun to be opened up. Not only would that become a reality as it would be opened up as a new square near the river. This `Door` considers the need for the historical. Political and phenomenological existence of those royal squares (or royal yards) opening up bordering the river as it considers the way they adapt to the environment at the territorial level. With the purpose of facilitating the understanding of their implementation and their strategic relation we should like to offer an analogy with current times towards a new urban reproposing of the eastern Lisbon riverfronting area.
