Resumo: | A painting representing the Visitation, made in 1592 by Diogo Teixeira for the Chapel of St.Elizabeth of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Oporto, considered one of the most important works of the painter, was the subject of a technical study that, in addition to the direct observation, included ultraviolet fluorescence photography, infrared photography, radiography, X-ray fluorescence spectrometry and optical microscopy. It was found that the support and the ground layer have unusual features and the paint was carried out in a relatively simple way with common pigments. The results are discussed in order to characterize the artist. |

The results are discussed in order to characterize the artist.Una pintura que representa la Visitación, también conocida como Visitación Mayor, realizada en 1592 por Diogo Teixeira para la Capilla de Santa Isabel de la Santa Casa da Misericordia de Oporto, considerada una de las más importantes obras del pintor, fue objeto de un estudio técnico que, además la observación directa, incluyó fotografía de fluorescencia de ultravioleta, fotografía de infrarrojo, radiografía, espectrometría de fluorescencia de rayos X y microscopía óptica. Se observó que el soporte y la capa de preparación tienen características inusuales y la pintura se llevó a cabo con relativa facilidad utilizando pigmentos comunes. Los resultados se discuten con el fin de caracterizar al artista.A pintura representando a Visitação, também conhecida como Visitação Maior, realizada em 1592 por Diogo Teixeira para a Capela de Santa Isabel da Misericórdia do Porto, considerada uma das obras mais importantes do pintor, foi objecto de estudo técnico que, além da observação directa, envolveu fotografia de fluorescência de ultravioleta, fotografia de infravermelho, radiografia, espectrometria de fluorescência de raios X e microscopia óptica. Verificou-se que o suporte e a camada de preparação têm características pouco comuns e que a pintura foi executada de modo relativamente simples usando pigmentos comuns.
