Resumo: Indian Ocean Studies comprise a multilayered platform of research, which enables you to focus on different themes or topics within a regional set of locations. The novelty is the transdisciplinary approach on networks of business, migration and cultural exchange, beyond specific national questions. My contribution, which serves as an introduction to the dossier Narrating the Indian Ocean, highlights the diverse perspectives and research engagements with this platform through different but complementary modes.
