Neste sentido delineou-se como objetivo geral desta investigação identificar as redes de suporte social das pessoas com 60 ou mais anos, sem filhos residentes na cidade de São Paulo. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas como técnica de coleta de dados com oito indivíduos, sendo seis mulheres e dois homens, de acordo com critérios de inclusão definidos: 1. pessoas com 60 anos ou mais de idade; 2. Sem filhos; 3. que residissem na cidade de São Paulo – SP. Verificamos que sete dos oito entrevistados têm redes de suporte social e apenas um não possui. Mapeamos quem faz parte dessa rede, a principal fonte de suporte referida pelos entrevistados foram os familiares, como sobrinhos, irmãos seguidos de amigos e companheiro. Para conhecer qual a percepção dos participantes sobre esta rede de suporte, questionamos se sentiam que possuem o suporte necessário, sete dos entrevistados informaram que sim, possuem o apoio necessário e apenas o entrevistado que não possui redes de suporte informou que não. A sensação de solidão não foi ressaltada no grupo investigado, contrariando a literatura que geralmente associa pessoas sem filhos à solidão. Já o desejo de estar sozinho e que esta possibilidade os traz bem-estar, que compreendemos como solitude, foi referida pelos entrevistados.Population aging has become a phenomenon that affects much of the world, today people not only live longer, but also have fewer children. In this sense, the general objective of this investigation was to identify the social support of people aged 60 or over, without children residing in the city of São Paulo. For this purpose, a semi-structured interview was carried out as a data collection technique with eight individuals, six women and two men, according to defined inclusion criteria (1. people aged 60 years or older; 2. who did not have children; 3. who resided in the city of São Paulo – SP). We found that seven of the eight respondents have social support and only one does not. We mapped who is part of this network, the main source of support mentioned by the interviewees were family members, such as nephews, brothers followed by friends and a partner. In order to know the participants' perception of this support, we asked if they felt they had the necessary support, seven of the interviewees reported that yes, they had the necessary support and only the interviewee who did not have support reported that they did not. The feeling of loneliness was not highlighted in the investigated group, contrary to the literature that generally associates people without children with loneliness.
