Resumo: The Calvary Panels from the Monastery of St. Andrew of Ancede, in Baião, present a challenge to the field of conservation and restoration. These paintings represent the images of Our Lady and St. John the Evangelist by the Cross on Mount Calvary. Together they constitute a pictorial and sculptural work, since the figure of crucified Christ is a sculpture, placed between the two panels, in a scenic manner. Probably dating from the sixteenth century, in its original composition, and from the nineteenth century in the second composition, aesthetic and historical issues arise inevitably when planning an intervention methodology, given the rarity of specimens from late Gothic painting in Portugal. Facing the impossibility of the preservation and fruition of both compositions, it is necessary to consider the validity of different methodologies, and prioritize a detailed study of all valences of these objects.

En estas pinturas se encuentran las imágenes de Nuestra Señora y San Juan Evangelista en el Monte Calvario, al pie de la Cruz, en un conjunto pictórico y escultórico, ya que la figura de Cristo crucificado es una escultura, colocada entre los dos paneles, de forma muy escénica. La datación se reparte entre el siglo XVI, en su composición original, y el siglo XIX en la segunda reformulación pictórica, planteando cuestiones éticas e históricas que, inevitablemente, se colocan cuando se planea una metodología de intervención, dada la rareza de ejemplos de pintura del gótico tardío en Portugal. Ante la imposibilidad de la preservación y el disfrute simultaneo de ambas composiciones, surgen preguntas en cuanto a la validez de las posibles metodologías, siendo prioridad la realización de un estudio completo de todos los valores de estos objetos.Os Painéis do Calvário provenientes do Mosteiro de Santo André de Ancede, em Baião, apresentam um desafio ao campo da Conservação e Restauro. Estas pinturas representam as imagens de Nossa Senhora e São João Evangelista, no Monte Calvário, aos pés da Cruz, constituindo um conjunto pictórico-escultórico, uma vez que a figura de Cristo crucificado é uma escultura, colocada entre os dois painéis, de forma cenográfica. Datados provavelmente do século XVI, na sua composição original, e do século XIX na segunda reformulação compositiva, levantam problemáticas estéticas e históricas que inevitavelmente se confrontam na formulação de uma metodologia de intervenção, dada a raridade de exemplares da pintura tardo-gótica em Portugal.
