Resumo: | The essay plays, in an ironic way, similarly to Jorge Luis Borges’ style, with the idea that the expression to change the world: justice or utopia, which is not found in Quixote, could undoubtedly have been excluded of it, or invented by an anonymous author, a habitual resource in the Middle Ages. It points out that we are in the presence of works that somehow mark the beginning of the concept of “author” and, paradoxically, question it, as Cervantes does deliberately, or as portrayed in the difficulties to establish the verisimilitude of the authorship of the works by the English bard. And this is done in order to work not only with the coincidence of the dates of their deaths (which grants space for another Borges-like game), but also with their contribution to the formation of the Western cultural universe, which made Bloom exaggerate in the attribution to Shakespeare of “inventing the human”, but to formulate the opposition of two ethics between two emblematic characters, such as Quixote and Lady Macbeth: ethics, which we shall call “of duty”, from which the concept of utopia is built, present in Erasmus Of Rotterdam’s work (of great influence in the Spain of Cervantes) and of Thomas Morus; And the ethics that we will call pragmatic, the ethics of Lady Macbeth, who prescribes to her husband the advice of Nicholas Machiavelli. In short, this paper concludes that Cervantes and Shakespeare inaugurated modernity, and the ideas found in their works, which were present in the production of sense of their time, in turn altered it (given the performative effect of literature); And that their remarkable personalities, united by the invisible thread of “madness”, allowed us to see the two faces of the human, as the Sileni of Alcibiades. |

Señala que estamos en presencia de obras que, en algún modo, marcan el comienzo del concepto de “autor” y, paradójicamente, lo cuestionan, como lo hace Cervantes de modo deliberado, o como queda retratado en las dificultades para establecer la verosimilitud de la autoría de las obras del bardo inglés. Y esto lo hace para trabajar, no sólo por la coincidencia de las fechas de sus muertes (que otorga espacio para otro juego borgeano), sino por su contribución a la conformación del universo cultural occidental, que llevara a Bloom a la exageración de atribuir a Shakespeare “la invención de lo humano”, sino para formular la oposición de dos éticas entre dos personajes emblemáticos como el propio Quijote y Lady Macbeth: la ética, que luego llamaríamos “del deber”, desde la que se construye el concepto de utopía, presente en la obra de Erasmo de Rotterdam (de enorme influencia en la España de Cervantes) y en la de Tomás Moro; y la ética, que luego llamaremos pragmática, la ética de Lady Macbeth, que prescribe a su esposo los consejos de Nicolás Maquiavelo. En suma, sostiene que Cervantes y Shakespeare inauguran la modernidad, que las ideas que encontramos en sus obras, que estaban presentes en la producción de sentido de su tiempo, a su vez, lo alteraron (dado el efecto performativo de la literatura); y que, sus entrañables personajes, unidos por el hilo invisible de la “locura”, permiten ver las dos caras de lo humano, como en los silenos de Alcibíades.O ensaio joga, irônica e borgianamente, com a ideia de que a expressão mudar o mundo: justiça ou utopia, que não se encontra no Quixote, poderia sem dúvida ter sido dele excluída, ou inventada por um autor anônimo, recurso habitual na Idade Média. Assinala que estamos em presença de obras que, de algum modo, marcam o começo do conceito de “autor” e, paradoxalmente, o questionam, como o faz Cervantes de modo deliberado, ou como fica retratado nas dificuldades para estabelecer a verosimilhança da autoria das obras do bardo inglês. E isso o faz para trabalhar não só pela coincidência das datas de suas mortes (que outorga espaço para outro jogo borgiano), mas também por sua contribuição à conformação do universo cultural ocidental, que leva Bloom ao exagero de atribuir a Shakespeare “a invenção do humano”, senão para formular a oposição de duas éticas entre duas personagens emblemáticas, como o próprio Quixote e Lady Macbeth: a ética, que logo chamaremos “de dever”, desde a qual se constrói o conceito de utopia, presente na obra de Erasmo de Roterdã (de enorma influência na Espanha de Cervantes) e na de Thomas Morus; e a ética que logo chamaremos pragmática, a ética de Lady Macbeth, que prescreve a seu marido os conselhos de Nicolau Maquiavel.
