Resumo: Written by Ariano Suassuna, Auto da Compadecida was conceived in the light of novels and popular stories from the Northeast. In this sense, the narrative revolves around João Grilo and Chicó. Caricatured figures, the protagonists are humble and represent the northeastern people who live at the mercy of public policies, who do not have access to their basic rights and who, faced with this reality – the lack of opportunities – see no other way out but sin. Within this scenario, the theory of co-culpability of the argentine jurist Eugenio Raúl Zaffaroni is inserted, which consists of recognising the influences of social inequality in determining the subjects for crime, that is, understanding that social, political, economic and educational needs influence particularly in the free will of agents, who without means of livelihood, lean towards the commission of unjust criminal acts – in Auto da Compadecida, of sins. From this perspective, supported by the deductive method of approach, and by the methods of explanatory and comparative procedure, the present research, in short, has the purpose of bringing to light the intersections between the judgment of João Grilo in the work of Ariano Suassuna and the theory of criminal co-culpability taught by Eugenio Zaffaroni.

En ese sentido, la narración gira en torno a João Grilo y Chicó.  Figuras caricaturescas, los protagonistas son necesitados y representan a los nordestinos que viven a merced de las políticas públicas, que no tienen acceso a sus derechos básicos y que ante esta realidad - la falta de oportunidades - no ven otra salida que el pecado. Dentro de este escenario se inserta la teoría de la coculpabilidad del jurista argentino Eugenio Raúl Zaffaroni, que consiste en reconocer las influencias de la desigualdad social en la determinación de los sujetos del delito, es decir, entender que las necesidades sociales, políticas, económicas y educativas influyen particularmente en el libre albedrío de los agentes, que sin medios de subsistencia, se inclinan a la comisión de actos delictivos injustos – en el Auto da Compadecida, de pecados. Desde esta perspectiva, apoyada en el método deductivo de abordaje, y en los métodos de procedimiento explicativo y comparativo, la presente investigación, en definitiva, tiene como objetivo desvelar las intersecciones entre el juicio de João Grilo en la obra de Ariano Suassuna y la teoría de la coculpabilidad penal impartida por Eugenio Zaffaroni.Escrito por Ariano Suassuna, o Auto da Compadecida foi pensado à luz dos romances e das histórias populares do Nordeste. Nesse sentido, a narrativa gira em torno de João Grilo e Chicó. Figuras caricatas, os protagonistas são carentes e representam o nordestino que vive a mercê das políticas públicas, que não têm acesso aos seus direitos básicos e que frente a essa realidade – a ausência de oportunidades – não vislumbram outra saída, senão o pecado. Dentro desse cenário, insere-se a teoria da coculpabilidade do jurista argentino Eugenio Raúl Zaffaroni, que consiste em reconhecer as influências da desigualdade social na determinação dos sujeitos para o crime, isto é, entender que as carências sociais, políticas, econômicas e educacionais influem sobremaneira no livre-arbítrio dos agentes, que sem meios de vida, se inclinam para o cometimento dos injustos penais – em Auto da Compadecida, dos pecados.
