Resumo: | The COVID-19 pandemic had important consequences for the way in which law was exercised, but it also represented serious economic impacts for the category. The study, based on empirical research conducted with law in the State of Rio de Janeiro, demonstrates that the impacts on work and economic condition derived from the pandemic were greater in relation to blacks and women, and, in intersectional analysis, in black women. The conclusion is that there is an unequal distribution of the effects of the pandemic in relation to these groups, which are socially and economically vulnerable. In order to interpret the data found, a literature review was conducted on racial, feminist and black feminism studies, which clarify the history of oppression and socially constructed narratives that cause blacks, black women and women to be discriminated against in the labor market in the 21st century, especially black women who are in a more precarious situation, by experiencing the abuses of racial and gender categories together, which is elucidated by the theory of intersectionality. |

The study was based on empirical research conducted with male and female lawyers in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The results demonstrate that the impacts of the pandemic on work and on the economic condition of these professionals were greater for blacks and, in an intersectional analysis, for black women. The conclusion is that there is an unequal distribution of the effects of the pandemic in relation to these groups, which are socially and economically vulnerable. In order to interpret the data found, a literature review was conducted on racial, feminist and black feminism studies, which clarify the history of oppression of these groups and the socially constructed narratives that cause black men, black women and women to be discrimated against in the labor market in the 21st century. The study also brings a special look to black women, since they are in a more precarious situation by experiencing the abuses of racial and gender categories together. This point of view is elucidated from the theory of intersectionality.Rede de Estudos Empíricos em Direito2021-10-24info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://reedrevista.org/reed/article/view/57610.19092/reed.v8.576Brazilian Journal of Empirical Legal Studies; Vol. 8 (2021): Brazilian Journal of Empirical Legal Studies; 1-52Revista de Estudos Empíricos em Direito; v. 8 (2021): Revista de Estudos Empíricos em Direito; 1-522319-081710.19092/reed.v8ireponame:Revista de Estudos Empíricos em Direitoinstname:Rede de Pesquisa Empírica em Direito (REED)instacron:RPEDporhttps://reedrevista.org/reed/article/view/576/359Copyright (c) 2021 Revista de Estudos Empíricos em Direitohttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessdos Santos, Eneida Mariade Lacerda Carelli, RodrigoMatosinhos, Isabella2021-08-10T13:43:32Zoai:ojs.emnuvens.com.br:article/576Revistahttps://reedrevista.org/reedONGhttps://reedrevista.org/reed/oaimvchein@gmail.com||reed.revista@gmail.com2319-08172319-0817opendoar:2021-08-10T13:43:32Revista de Estudos Empíricos em Direito - Rede de Pesquisa Empírica em Direito (REED)false |
