The incorporation of technological solutions into the legal assistance service: the impact of the pandemic on the Public Defense Of The State Of Pará

In the pandemic scenario, the adversity in relation to fundamental rights is to protect them, rather than justifying them. And it is in this scenario of social and economic restrictions that the use of technology can be a great ally in jurisdictional activity. The present work has as a research problem and aims to demonstrate how the incorporation of technological solutions impacted the provision of public legal aid services by the Public Defender of the State of Pará during the pandemic. For this purpose, a hypothetical-deductive method was used with the use of exploratory research to form the theoretical framework regarding the Digital State and the influence of new technologies in the face of the pandemic scenario aimed at legal assistance carried out by the Public Defender of the State of Pará. The structure of this research allows us to examine whether the technology solution adopted by the public agency in question through the Conexão Defensoria contributed, not only to the continuity of legal assistance, but also to ascertain whether or not there was an increase in services provided to the population. It is concluded that with the creation of the electronic platform Conexão Defensoria and other technological systems for remote access, a significant quantitative increase of services was found in reference to numbers prior to the pandemic, as well as the need to disseminate more information to the population, especially, those in digital vulnerability.
