Resumo: This work sought to identify the public policies that provide access to education to individuals deprived of their freedom in Brazilian prisons. The specific objective was to analyze policy documents to identify the conceptions of man, world and education found in them. The data collection and analysis were supported by document analysis and the Policy Cycle approach (Mainardes; Ball and collaborators). Our results revealed the need to broaden the debate about the documents and conceptions related to prison education, which have repercussions on teachers' practical actions in the classroom. Such conceptions are based on a theoretical framework that brings the assumptions of EJA influenced by Paulo Freire's thoughts. However, they indicate that a rupture is required to move forward, aiming at a conception of education as an assured right that can generate significant changes in the lives of all subjects. Right to Education.El presente trabajo buscó identificar las políticas públicas que viabilizan el acceso a la educación a las personas privadas de libertad en las cárceles brasileñas. Como objetivo específico, se definió el análisis de los documentos para identificar cuáles son las concepciones del hombre, del mundo y de la educación que impregnan los documentos que guían la práctica y la organización de esta modalidad. Para la recolección y el análisis de datos se utilizó el análisis documental y el enfoque del Ciclo de Políticas (Mainardes; Ball y colaboradores). Los resultados indican la necesidad de ampliar el debate sobre los documentos y concepciones que se encuentran en la educación penitenciaria y que repercuten en las acciones prácticas de los docentes en el aula, llevando en sí mismo un fuerte marco teórico que trae los supuestos de la Educación de Personas Jóvenes y Adultas (EJA) influenciados por el pensamiento de Paulo Freire, pero indican que hay mucho que romper y avanzar, en dirección a una concepción de que la educación es un derecho asegurado y que puede generar cambios significativos en la vida de todos los sujetos. Derecho a la Educación.O presente trabalho buscou identificar as políticas públicas que oportunizam o acesso à educação aos sujeitos privados de liberdade nas unidades prisionais do Brasil. Como objetivo específico, analisou-se os documentos norteadores da prática e da organização dessa modalidade, a fim de identificar quais são as concepções de homem, mundo e educação que os permeiam. Para a coleta e análise de dados, foi utilizada a análise documental e a abordagem do Ciclo de Políticas. Os resultados apontam para a necessidade de ampliar o debate sobre os documentos e as concepções encontrados na educação prisional e que repercutem nas ações práticas dos professores em sala de aula, carregando em si um forte arcabouço teórico que traz os pressupostos da EJA, influenciados pelos pensamentos de Paulo Freire. Porém, os mesmos indicam que há muito o que se romper e avançar, rumo a uma concepção de que a educação é um direito assegurado e que pode gerar mudanças significativas na vida de todos os sujeitos.
