An introduction to Stephen J. Ball’s ideas and contributions on the theme of education policy implementation

Resumo: Abstract: This paper is addressed to research beginners in the field of educational policies and aims to present and discuss some ideas and contributions of the English sociologist and researcher Stephen J. Ball on the subject of public policy implementation. It is divided into three complementary parts: the first one addresses the author’s main themes of interest throughout his trajectory of studies and research through a synopsis of his main works; the second discusses Ball's contributions to the theme of policy implementation from the concept of policy enactment. Taking as reference his major intellectual influencers, the third and last part explores Stephen Ball's theoretic and methodological "toolbox" and the implications of his epistemological positioning for the education policy implementation research work.   Keywords: Stephen J. Tomando como referencia a sus principales referentes intelectuales, la tercera y última parte del texto explora la "caja de herramientas" teórico-metodológicas de Stephen Ball y las implicaciones de su posicionamiento epistemológico para las investigaciones sobre implementación de políticas educativas.   Palavras-clave: Stephen J. O artigo está dividido em três partes: a primeira traz as temáticas centrais trabalhadas pelo autor ao longo de sua trajetória de pesquisa por meio de uma sinopse de suas principais obras; a segunda discute as contribuições de Ball para o tema da implementação a partir do conceito de atuação política. Tomando como referência seus principais influenciadores intelectuais, a última parte do texto explora a “caixa de ferramentas” teórico-metodológicas de Stephen Ball e as implicações de seu posicionamento epistemológico para as pesquisas sobre implementação de políticas educacionais.   Palavras-chave: Stephen J.
