Resumo: In this paper I present ethnographic data about the communal house (tavyva) of the Asurini do Xingu people, showing that this architectural structure adds multiple meanings (social, ideological, territorial, historical and memorial), it is a living space (public and domestic) for persons socially related, and is constituted by perishable technologies. This paper aims to show the agentive and significant potency of a specific materiality, and also to present data that can contribute to the improvement of (ethno)archaeological theoretical reflections and methods on houses and the domestic universe of the indigenous populations, more specifically, of those populations who lived in the Amazon region.

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo, por un lado, mostrar la potencia agentiva y significativa de una      materialidad específica y, por otro, aportar datos que puedan contribuir a la mejora de las reflexiones teóricas y de los métodos de investigación (etno)arqueológica sobre las casas y el universo doméstico de las poblaciones indígenas, más específicamente de aquellas de la región amazónica.Neste trabalho apresento dados etnográficos sobre a tavyva, a casa comunal do povo Asurini do Xingu, mostrando que esta estrutura arquitetônica agrega múltiplos significados (social, ideológico, territorial, histórico e memorial), é um espaço de vivência (público e doméstico) de pessoas relacionadas socialmente, e se constitui a partir de tecnologias perecíveis.
