The objective of the research was to evaluate and compare the level of application of NTS No. 096-MINSA/DIGESA V.01. "Technical health standard for management and handling of solid waste in health establishments" in the EsSalud Assistance Network - Hospital II Tarapoto and in the Amazon Hospital of Yarinacocha, during the period of 2 consecutive years (2013 and 2014). The approach was qualitative, with a comparative descriptive design, having as an intentional sample the Directors (as Presidents of the Hospital Solid Waste Management and Management Committee), those responsible for the Environmental Sanitation Unit and internal solid waste management personnel. hospitalarios, of the aforementioned health establishments. Among the results, it was found that the percentage (%) of non-compliance with NTS No. 096 MINSA/DIGESA V.01 in the ESSALUD Assistance Network - Hospital II Tarapoto is 76.265% and in the Yarinacocha Amazon Hospital it is 77.275%. Therefore, it is concluded that, in both health establishments, there was an inadequate management and handling of hospital solid waste.
