MPPT disturbance and observation algorithms for systems with DC load

Resumo: | This paper describes some fundamentals about Photovoltaic (PV) Systems and also studies many aspects related to the control of the efficiency of PV arrays directly coupled to a DC load. PV arrays has some intrinsic characteristics that can affect its output power during different operating conditions. Hence, PV arrays output power is usually maintained relatively constant by using control algorithms. The Perturb and Observe (P&O) algorithm is one of this control algorithms which is studied in the present paper. Additionally, it is also analyzed the faults of the P&O algorithm in maintaining stable the efficiency of the array with rapid variable ambient conditions. In that sense, it is stated the possibility of investigating some modified P&O algorithms that can be found in the literature in order to improve the results of the P&O algorithm with respect to its effectiveness to control the efficiency of the array and its ease of implementation in a PV system. |

Los arreglos fotovoltaicos tienen algunas características intrínsecas que pueden afectar su potencia de salida durante diferentes condiciones de funcionamiento. Por lo tanto, la potencia de salida de los arreglos fotovoltaicos generalmente se mantiene relativamente constante mediante el uso de algoritmos de control. El algoritmo de perturbación y observación – Perturb and Observe (P&O) – es uno de estos algoritmos de control y es estudiado con detalle en el presente artículo. Se analizan las fallas del algoritmo P&O para mantener estable la eficiencia del arreglo con condiciones ambientales variables rápidas. En ese sentido, se plantea la posibilidad de investigar algunos algoritmos P&O modificados que se pueden encontrar en la literatura para mejorar los resultados del algoritmo P&O con respecto a su efectividad para controlar la eficiencia del arreglo y su facilidad de implementación en un sistema fotovoltaico.Este artigo descreve alguns fundamentos de sistemas fotovoltaicos e também estuda diversos aspectos relacionados ao controle de eficiência de arranjos fotovoltaicos acoplados diretamente a uma carga de corrente contínua (DC). Os arranjos fotovoltaicos possuem algumas características intrínsecas que podem afetar sua potência de saída durante diferentes condições de operação. Portanto, a potência de saída dos arranjos fotovoltaicos é geralmente mantida relativamente constante através do uso de algoritmos de controle. O algoritmo Perturb and Observe (P&O) é um desses algoritmos de controle e é estudado em detalhes neste artigo. As falhas do algoritmo P&O para manter a eficiência da matriz estável sob condições ambientais em rápida mudança são analisadas.
