Confinement caused by COVID-19 in the teaching and learning processes: Case Universidad Técnica Luis Vargas Torres de Esmeraldas

Resumo: The educational context has taken a different perspective since the beginning of the health emergency due to COVID-19. Higher education institutions, with digital platforms, have the opportunity to make academic processes more flexible for students through the articulation of digital tools in order to continue with the educational service. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of confinement due to the COVID-19 pandemic on teaching-learning processes. For the investigative work, the quantitative approach was used. The instrument used was an online questionnaire, aimed at students of the Luis Vargas Torres de Esmeraldas Technical University, the sample was taken at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Services. For information processing, the SPSS statistical package was used. In the results obtained, it was evidenced that going through this modality of distance education has brought out deficiencies such as the presence of stress factors in the home; and the fact of having to attend to school tasks in the case of women, is what afflicts the sample of participating students in the highest percentage. Likewise, it can be briefly expressed by the results generated in the survey that the professors consider that face-to-face education in general terms is more significant. On the other hand, within the finding made, the fact that teachers have obtained greater autonomy by having to opt for an asynchronous and synchronous methodology is highlighted so that all students access higher education, using all the necessary tools.

Las instituciones de educación superior, con plataformas digitales, tienen la oportunidad de flexibilizar procesos académicos en los estudiantes a partir de la articulación de herramientas digitales con el fin de continuar con el servicio educativo. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar los efectos del confinamiento por la pandemia del COVID-19 en los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje. Para el trabajo investigativo se utilizó el enfoque cuantitativo. El instrumento empleado fue un cuestionario online, dirigido a los estudiantes de la Universidad Técnica Luis Vargas Torres de Esmeraldas, la muestra fue tomada en la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales y de Servicios. Para el procesamiento de la información se utilizó el paquete estadístico SPSS. En los resultados obtenidos se evidenció que el transitar por esta modalidad de educación a distancia, ha aflorado deficiencias como la presencia de factores estresores en el hogar; y el hecho de tener que atender las tareas escolares en el caso de las mujeres, es lo que en mayor porcentaje aqueja a la muestra de estudiantes participantes. Así mismo, se puede expresar brevemente por los resultados generados en la encuesta que los docentes catedráticos consideran que la educación presencial en términos generales es más significativa. Por otra parte, dentro del hallazgo realizado se resalta el hecho que los docentes han obtenido mayor autonomía al tener que optar por una metodología asincrónica y sincrónica para que todos los estudiantes accedan a la educación superior, utilizando todas las herramientas necesarias.O contexto educacional assumiu uma perspectiva diferente desde o início da emergência sanitária devido ao COVID-19. O objetivo deste estudo foi determinar os efeitos do confinamento devido à pandemia de COVID-19 nos processos de ensino-aprendizagem. Para o trabalho investigativo, foi utilizada a abordagem quantitativa. O instrumento utilizado foi um questionário online, destinado a alunos da Universidade Técnica Luis Vargas Torres de Esmeraldas, a amostra foi recolhida na Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Serviços. Para o processamento das informações, foi utilizado o pacote estatístico SPSS. Nos resultados obtidos, evidenciou-se que passar por essa modalidade de educação a distância trouxe à tona deficiências como a presença de fatores estressores no domicílio; e o fato de ter que cumprir tarefas escolares, no caso das mulheres, é o que aflige a amostra de alunos participantes em maior percentual. Da mesma forma, pode-se expressar brevemente pelos resultados gerados na pesquisa que os docentes consideram que a educação presencial em termos gerais é mais significativa.
