General health status of caregivers of children who attend consultations in pediatric areas

Resumo: | Introduction: Child caregivers have a fundamental role in public health since they are responsible for caring for them. The existence of alterations in the general health status of caregivers directly influences the child's health. Objective: To determine the general health status of the caregivers of the children who attend the consultations of the pediatric areas. Methodology: Study of descriptive, quantitative, cross-sectional design and in a period of time between April to June 2022. A census sample was used, all those caregivers of children who decided to be part of the research in the Municipal Assistance Health Center, in the city of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas. Results: The female sex predominates in 88%, especially the mothers with respect to the male sex, with ages between 18-28 years in 33%. The predominant general health status of caregivers of children is: "no case" in the 4 subscales (GHQ-28 <=5 "No case"). There were only "cases" in the subscales: anxiety-insomnia in 16%, followed by the somatic symptoms subscale in 13%. Conclusions: The general health status of child caregivers is satisfactory despite the multiple occupations they perform. |

La existencia de alteraciones en el estado de salud general de los cuidadores influye directamente en la salud del niño. Objetivo: Determinar el estado de salud general de los cuidadores de los niños que acuden a las consultas de las áreas pediátricas. Metodología: Estudio de diseño descriptivo, cuantitativo, transversal y en un lapso de tiempo comprendido entre febrero a junio del 2022. Se utilizó una muestra censal, todos aquellos cuidadores de niños que decidieron formar parte de la investigación en el Centro de Salud Asistencia Municipal, en la ciudad de Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas. Resultados: El sexo femenino predomina en un 88%, sobre todo las madres con respecto al sexo masculino, con edades comprendidas entre 18-28 años en un 33%. El estado de salud general predominante de los cuidadores de niños es: “no caso” en las 4 subescalas (GHQ-28 <=5 "No caso"). Solo fueron “casos” en las subescalas: ansiedad-insomnio en un 16%, seguido de la Subescala de síntomas somáticos en un 13%. Conclusiones: El estado de salud general de los cuidadores de niños es satisfactorio a pesar de las múltiples ocupaciones que estos realizan.Introdução: Os cuidadores de crianças têm papel fundamental na saúde pública, pois são responsáveis por cuidar delas. A existência de alterações no estado geral de saúde dos cuidadores influencia diretamente na saúde da criança. Objetivo: Determinar o estado geral de saúde dos cuidadores das crianças que frequentam as consultas das áreas pediátricas. Metodologia: Estudo descritivo, quantitativo, delineamento transversal e em um período de tempo entre abril a junho de 2022. Foi utilizada uma amostra censitária, todos aqueles cuidadores de crianças que decidiram fazer parte da pesquisa no Centro de Saúde de Assistência Municipal, na cidade de Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas. Resultados: O sexo feminino predomina em 88%, principalmente as mães com relação ao sexo masculino, com idades entre 18-28 anos em 33%. O estado geral de saúde predominante dos cuidadores de crianças é: "sem caso" nas 4 subescalas (GHQ-28 <=5 "Sem caso"). Houve apenas "casos" nas subescalas: ansiedade-insônia em 16%, seguida da subescala de sintomas somáticos em 13%.
