Climate change is evident in this sector by acting as a projector of dangerous events, mainly floods. The province of Sucumbíos is characterized by oil activity, where there are limitations in terms of research carried out and the effects caused by fixed emission sources, their effects on hydrometeorological variations that cause flooding, especially in indigenous communities settled in ancestral sectors where there is no there is no planning due to their socio-cultural conditions. The sectors where these communities are settled are on the banks of the Dashino River and its tributaries where floods frequently occur. The object of the research is to determine the vulnerability and estimation of risks to floods due to intense rains in different return periods. In the investigation within the methodology, each of the elements exposed to floods were identified, which have a certain complexity, the vulnerability analysis is carried out where the potential damages by flooding are estimated, the way of calculating variables associated with direct damage is taken into account. where structural and non-structural vulnerability is placed, while indirect damages are associated with social, economic, ecological and functional vulnerabilities, which together give us the value of total vulnerability. Socioeconomic conditions are limited and it is the area where 20% of the poor population of the canton is located, they live precariously in wooden houses with thatched roofs, where there are no early warning plans, making structural vulnerability very high.
