Resumo: Introduction: The global crisis due to COVID-19, has produced changes in health institutions, affecting the mental health of health personnel, so it has been necessary to implement coping strategies to adapt to the situation. Objective: To identify COVID-19 coping in auxiliary nursing staff. Methodology: This is quantitative research of non-experimental design, cross-sectional, with a descriptive scope. The study population was 100 nursing assistants of the Hospital General Docente Ambato. The information was collected through a survey with 21 closed questions, divided into 3 dimensions: adaptation or assimilation, adequate management of emotions and social limitations. Results: The coping strategies used were problem solving with 55%, worry solving with 47.5% and resistance to difficulties with 56%; the nursing assistants presented a medium level of coping with a percentage of 41%. Conclusions: COVID-19 coping has been progressively improving, healthcare professionals have changed their way of thinking and acting in the face of illness, allowing their work development, for such reason, it is essential that coping strategies continue to be applied and encouraged among workers, in order to maintain their health both physically and psychologically.

Objetivo: Identificar el afrontamiento del COVID-19 en el personal auxiliar de enfermería. Metodología: Esta investigación es cuantitativa de diseño no experimental, de corte trasversal, con un alcance descriptivo. La población de estudio fueron 100 auxiliares de enfermería del Hospital General Docente Ambato. La recolección de información fue a través de una encuesta con 21 preguntas cerradas, divididas en 3 dimensiones: adaptación o asimilación, manejo adecuado de las emociones y limitaciones sociales. Resultados: Las estrategias de afrontamiento empleadas fueron la solución de problemas con un 55%, la solución de preocupaciones con un 47,5% y la resistencia a las dificultades con un 56%; los auxiliares de enfermería presentaron un nivel de medio de afrontamiento con un porcentaje del 41%. Conclusiones: El afrontamiento del COVID-19 ha ido mejorando progresivamente, los profesionales sanitarios han cambiado su forma de pensar y actuar ante la enfermedad, permitiendo su desarrollo laboral, por tal motivo, es fundamental que las estrategias de afrontamiento sigan aplicándose y fomentándose entre los trabajadores, con el fin de mantener su salud tanto a nivel físico como psicológico. Introdução: A crise global da COVID-19 levou a mudanças nas instituições de saúde, afetando a saúde mental dos profissionais de saúde, tornando necessário implementar estratégias de enfrentamento para se adaptar à situação. Objetivo: Identificar a COVID-19 no pessoal auxiliar de enfermagem. Metodologia: Esta é uma pesquisa quantitativa, não-experimental, de corte transversal com um escopo descritivo. A população do estudo era de 100 assistentes de enfermagem no Hospital General Docente Ambato. As informações foram coletadas através de uma pesquisa com 21 perguntas fechadas, divididas em 3 dimensões: adaptação ou assimilação, gestão adequada das emoções e limitações sociais. Resultados: As estratégias de enfrentamento utilizadas foram a resolução de problemas com 55%, a resolução de preocupações com 47,5% e a resistência às dificuldades com 56%; os assistentes de enfermagem apresentaram um nível médio de enfrentamento com uma porcentagem de 41%.
