Ancestral traditional medicine in the Ecuadorian health system

Resumo: | Within the health system of Ecuador, the complementarity of traditional ancestral medicine is promoted in the different institutions that comprise it, the state is responsible for guaranteeing traditional ancestral health practices through the recognition, respect and promotion of their knowledge and practices in pro to health care, approached by different Ecuadorian communities. Objective: To analyze the impact that traditional ancestral medicine has had on the Ecuadorian health system, and the changes in the system to achieve the link between traditional and ancestral medicine. Methods: Descriptive, retrospective study of documentary analysis, where regulations and legislation of the Republic of Ecuador were analyzed, as well as scientific articles published in different databases for an approximation or scientific evidence of the objective of the study. Findings: In Ecuador, traditional medicine is highly relevant according to each belonging community, thus treating various physical, spiritual or psychological ailments, implementing different methods or therapies to address them. Final considerations: Despite the fact that the inclusion of ancestral practices is implemented in their policies, both the communities and the health professionals have limitations in linking Traditional-ancestral medicine with conventional medicine. |

Objetivo: Analizar el impacto que ha tenido la medicina tradicional ancestral en el sistema de salud de Ecuador, y los cambios en el sistema para lograr la vinculación de la medicina tradicional-ancestral. Métodos: Estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo de análisis documental, donde se analizaron normativas y legislaciones de la República del Ecuador, además de artículos científicos publicados en diferentes bases de datos para una aproximación o evidencia científica del objetivo del estudio. Hallazgos: En Ecuador cobra gran relevancia la medicina tradicional según cada comunidad perteneciente, así tratan diversas dolencias físicas, espirituales o psicológicas, implementando distintos métodos o terapias para abordarlos. Consideraciones finales: A pesar de que se implemente en sus políticas la inclusión de prácticas ancestrales, tanto las comunidades como los profesionales sanitarios tienen limitaciones para vincular la medicina Tradicional -ancestral con la convencional.Dentro do sistema de saúde do Equador, a complementaridade da medicina tradicional ancestral é promovida nas diferentes instituições que o compõem, o Estado é responsável por garantir as práticas tradicionais de saúde ancestrais através do reconhecimento, respeito e promoção de seus conhecimentos e práticas em prol da atenção à saúde, abordado por diferentes comunidades equatorianas. Objetivo: Analisar o impacto que a medicina tradicional ancestral teve no sistema de saúde equatoriano e as mudanças no sistema para alcançar o vínculo entre medicina tradicional e ancestral. Métodos: Estudo descritivo, retrospectivo, de análise documental, onde foram analisados os regulamentos e a legislação da República do Equador, bem como artigos científicos publicados em diferentes bases de dados para uma aproximação ou comprovação científica do objetivo do estudo. Resultados: No Equador, a medicina tradicional é altamente relevante de acordo com cada comunidade de pertencimento, tratando assim várias doenças físicas, espirituais ou psicológicas, implementando diferentes métodos ou terapias para tratá-las.
