This article aims to present reflections, advances and perspectives of sustainable tourism, under the bias of ecotourism and community-based tourism. However, as a first step, we searched for bibliographic sources aiming at understanding the relationship between man and nature, how it was established. In the second stage, we searched for studies related to ecotourism as well as community-based tourism, aiming to verify how in fact such a sustainable perspective is and how such actions have been established based on the perceptions arising from the environmental theme. As a third step, a general analysis of the proposed themes was performed. The present work concluded that many advances have been developed between the various approaches and studies, but much still needs to be done mainly in the complex relationship between theory and practice, especially in relation to economic interests and lack of sensitivity to the issue. environment, which often interferes more negatively than positively with tourism and its effects on natural resources. However, with the technological age in which we live, communication, social movements, awareness of both preservation and conservation of natural resources has become more comprehensive in this context, contributing to moderate steps with the real sense of appreciation that the environment. indeed needs and deserves, especially with regard to tourism and its environmental relations.
