Environmental sustainability in the Serra de Bodoquena in the context of the legislation of Mato Grosso Sul (Brazil)

The Serra of Bodoquena, located in the southwestern state of Mato Grosso do Sul, has sui generis characteristics that stand out as important elements of tourist attractions mainly from the city of Bonito. The tourism should beconcernedwith the sustainability of the natural environment and that public policies are instruments of order this activity with a view to their development and maintenance. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the environmental sustainability in the city of Bonito in the context of public policy on tourism and its potential for the effectiveness of this municipality. The lifting of the policies mentioned was carried out by means of published works and research tools on the internet, as well as directly with the Secretariat and the foundation of tourism in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the Municipal Council of Bonito and the Secretariat of Tourism of Bonito. It was also applied a questionnaire to each of the listed public bodies with the purpose of identifying the most relevant and the knowledge that they have on them. It was found that, although there are public policies of tourism de Mato Grosso do Sul and Bonito, which assume the conservation of the natural environment, there is no consensus between these policies and the public managers of tourism, as well as sustainability in them will not want to truly protect the natural environment. In addition, managers do not have sufficient knowledge about the existing policies, to ensure their applicability.
