Resumo: The practice of observing animals in their natural habitats is a hobby of millions of people all over the world, once it combines tourism, science, and education. Birdwatching, for instance, is already consolidated in several countries in the northern hemisphere, and it is being increasingly adopted by Brazilian ecotourists. Although Brazil has a rich avifauna distributed among its biomes, birdwatching is still underestimated in several regions, including the Brazilian Northeast region. In this sense, this study aimed to analyze the potential of the birdwatching activity in a national park inserted within the Caatinga biome, in the state of Ceará, Brazil, focusing on the evaluation of the local infrastructure and species richness. For this purpose, it was adopted a methodological procedure that included data sampling in situ, by surveying the avifauna and exploring the area. The results indicate that the Ubajara National Park has an abundant and diverse avifauna, including both typical species from the humid forest and those common in dry forests (Caatinga). Furthermore, it presented a favorable local infrastructure for ecotourism activities, counting on valuable furniture for the birdwatching activity, which makes this park an outstanding place among the conservation units of the Caatinga biome for birdwatching.
