The production of meanings for a problem text by students of a class of first grade in elementary school

Resumo: This study is part of a master's research study that investigated how children in the 1st grade of elementary school produce mathematical meanings when inserted into school mathematical literacy practices with a focus on problem solving. In this article we analyze excerpts of a practice of initial mathematics instruction from the perspective of literacy, which aimed at a systematic work on the reading and production of meanings for a problem text. This is a qualitative research, in which the researcher established a partnership with a 1st grade teacher of Elementary School who made her classroom available as a research scenario. The data analyzed here were produced by video recording of oral discussions in the classroom and field diary of the researcher. The analyzes indicate that the existence of a specific work with the problem text allows the students an easier reading and understanding of mathematical texts.

En este artículo son analizados extractos de una práctica de alfabetización matemática en la perspectiva de la enseñanza, que tuvo como objetivo un trabajo sistemático ante la lectura y la producción de significados para el texto de un problema. Se trata de una investigación cualitativa, en la cual la investigadora estableció una colaboración con una profesora de primer año de la enseñanza secundaria que puso a disposición su aula como escenario de la investigación. Los datos aquí analizados fueron producidos en videoconferencias de discusiones orales en las clases y del diario de campo de la investigadora. Los análisis apuntan que la existencia de un trabajo científico con el texto del problema, posibilita a los alumnos una mayor facilidad en la lectura y comprensión de textos matemáticos.Este estudo é um recorte de uma pesquisa de mestrado que investigou como as crianças do primeiro ano do Ensino Fundamental produzem significados matemáticos quando inseridas em práticas de letramento matemático escolar com foco em resolução de problemas. São analisados, neste artigo, excertos de uma prática de alfabetização matemática na perspectiva do letramento visando a um trabalho sistemático diante da leitura e da produção de significados para o texto de um problema. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa em que a pesquisadora estabeleceu uma parceria com uma professora de um primeiro ano do Ensino Fundamental, que disponibilizou sua sala de aula como cenário de investigação. Os dados aqui analisados foram produzidos por videogravação de discussões orais em sala de aula e diário de campo da pesquisadora.
