Articulating some geometric knowledge with the manipulative conditions of Petrus Ramus' baculum in a university experience

Resumo: From the attempt to approach the history of mathematics teaching through old instruments for the mobilization of mathematical knowledge present in them, we had the application of an activity in a university extension course, in which we aimed to show the geometric knowledge that was listed in the study of the manipulative conditioning scans of the baculum of Petrus Ramus (1515-1752),a mathematical instrument contained in the historical document Via regia ad geometriam,  under  the English version of 1636. To this end, using the qualitative approach with descriptive nature, we made the data treatment in the chosen activity, trying to gather the concepts that were listed, in order to make relationship with the management of the mathematical instrument. Therefore, the participants highlight the concepts of parallelism, perpendicularity, relevant to the inclination of the instrument, depending on the conditions of us of the baculum of Petrus Ramus, which allows the user to position the object well to find the measure sought. Thus, with the mathematical concepts that were identified in the study of the handling of the instrument, we had the notion about the didactic potentialities of Petrus Ramus' baculum for the teaching of Mathematics, relating both to the school routine and didactic approaches that can be implemented in basic education.

Thus, with the mathematical concepts that were identified in the study of the handling of the instrument, we had the notion about the didactic potentialities of Petrus Ramus' baculum for the teaching of Mathematics, relating both to the school routine and didactic approaches that can be implemented in basic education.A partir del intento de acercarnos a la historia de la enseñanza de las matemáticas a través de antiguos instrumentos para la movilización del conocimiento matemático presente en ellos, tuvimos la aplicación de una actividad en un curso de extensión universitaria, en el que pretendíamos mostrar el conocimiento geométrico que se enumeraba en el estudio de las condiciones de condicionamiento manipulativo del báculo de Petrus Ramus (1515-1752),  instrumento matemático contenido en el documento histórico Via regia ad geometriam, bajo la versión inglesa de 1636. Para ello, utilizando el enfoque cualitativo con carácter descriptivo, realizamos el tratamiento de datos en la actividad elegida, tratando de recoger los conceptos que se enumeraron, con el fin de establecer relación con la movilización del instrumento matemático. Por lo tanto, los participantes destacan los conceptos de paralelismo, perpendicularidad, relevantes para la inclinación del instrumento, dependiendo de las condiciones de uso del báculo de Petrus Ramus, lo que permite al usuario posicionar bien el objeto para encontrar la medida buscada. Así, con los conceptos matemáticos que se identificaron en el estudio del manejo del instrumento, tuvimos la noción sobre las potencialidades didácticas del báculo de Petrus Ramus para la enseñanza de las matemáticas, relacionando tanto la rutina escolar como los enfoques didácticos que se pueden implementar en la educación básica.A partir da tentativa de aproximar a história do ensino de Matemática por meio de antigos instrumentos para a mobilização do conhecimento matemático presente neles, tivemos a aplicação de uma atividade em um curso de extensão universitária, no qual visamos a mostrar os conhecimentos geométricos que foram elencados no estudo dos condicionantes manipulativos do báculo de Petrus Ramus (1515-1752), instrumento matemático contido no documento histórico Via regia ad geometriam, sob a versão inglesa de 1636. Para tanto, utilizando a abordagem qualitativa com cunho descritivo, fizemos o tratamento de dados na atividade escolhida, procurando reunir os conceitos que foram enumerados, de modo a fazer relação com a mobilização do instrumento matemático. Diante disso, obteve-se, por parte dos cursistas, o destaque para os conceitos de paralelismo, perpendicularidade, relevantes para a inclinação do instrumento, advindos das condições de uso do báculo de Petrus Ramus, que permite ao usuário posicionar bem o objeto para encontrar a medida procurada.
