The Mathematics Fair in Brazil: Teacher Training and Editions Held

Resumo: This article aims to analyze the landscape of national mobilizations that focus on improving the teaching and learning process in Basic Education developed through the “Movimento em Rede da Feira de Matemática (MRFMat)”. In parallel, the role of the Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBEM) in this process is also analyzed. To achieve this, a brief historical overview of the topic is presented, outlining the similarities and differences between FMat and SBEM. The results stem from a qualitative research study conducted with 40 teachers, including representatives from the regional directorates of SBEM and the organizing committees of the Mathematics Fair. All participants responded to an online questionnaire via Google Forms, structured around the research question: How does the panorama of FMat manifest in the federative units of Brazil? The data revealed how collectively organized actions significantly contributed to the expansion of FMat in 11 Brazilian states, with a focus on ensuring the effective training of managers and teachers regarding the nature, principles, guidance processes, evaluation, and management of FMat. De manera paralela, también se analiza el papel de la Sociedad Brasileña de Matemáticas (SBEM) en este proceso. Para ello, se presenta un breve histórico sobre el tema, las semejanzas y las diferencias entre la FMat y la SBEM. Se trata de los resultados de una investigación cualitativa, realizada con 40 profesores, entre representantes de los directores regionales de SBEM y de las comisiones de organización de la Feria de Matemáticas. Todos contestaron a un cuestionario online por Google Forms, creado a partir de la siguiente pregunta de investigación: ¿Cómo se presenta el panorama de FMat en las unidades federativas de Brasil? Los datos producidos revelaron lo cuánto las acciones organizadas de manera colectiva contribuyeron para la expansión de FMat en 11 estados brasileños, pero con el cuidado de dejar efectiva la formación de gestores y profesores. Expansión.Resumo: Este artigo objetiva analisar o panorama de mobilizações nacionais que visam à melhoria do processo ensino-aprendizagem na Educação Básica, desenvolvidas por meio do Movimento em Rede de Feira de Matemática (MRFMat). De forma paralela, também se analisa o papel da Sociedade Brasileira de Matemática (SBEM) nesse processo. Para isso, apresenta-se um breve histórico sobre o tema, as similaridades e as diferenças entre a FMat e a SBEM. Trata-se dos resultados de uma pesquisa qualitativa, realizada com 40 professores, entre representantes das diretorias regionais da SBEM e das comissões de organização da Feira de Matemática. Todos responderam a um questionário online pelo Google Forms, criado a partir da seguinte questão de pesquisa: como se apresenta o panorama da FMat nas unidades federativas do Brasil? Os dados produzidos revelaram o quanto as ações organizadas de forma coletiva contribuíram para a expansão da FMat em 11 estados brasileiros, mas com o cuidado de efetivar a formação de gestores e professores.
