Resumo: The mitochondrial control region sequence was compared between the two surviving matrilineal lineages of the Sorraia horse. Two haplotypes were found, showing three differences between them. The reduced number of surviving maternal lineages emphasizes the importance of establishing a conservation plan for this endangered breed.
