E-mail: carolinamarotta2000@ yahoo. com.br Myiasis is the infestation of animals by dipterous larvae that feed living or died tissues of the host during at least one stage of their development. A feline (about 2 years old and non-determined race) was looked after in a veterinary clinical situated in Rio de Janeiro city. It was diagnosed cutaneous and oro-nasal internal myiasis. Larvae were identified at the Laboratório de Doenças Parasitárias in the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro as Cochliomyia hominivorax. Animals with myiasis generally are euthanized or abandoned in virtue of the gravity and the disgusting aspect of the injuries. The aim of this study was to describe a clinical case of internal and cutaneous myiasis in a feline, suggesting therapeutical procedures, measures of prevention and control for guarantee of the welfare animal.
