E-mail: gralbu@uesc.br The freshwater fish culture has presented significant growth in Brazil. The tilapia cultivation involves intensive systems and different strategies, which can cause fish stress and economic losses due to the presence of several pathogens. In this context haematological variables are used as diagnostic tools. The objective of this study was to identify the parasite fauna and hematologic characteristics of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) cultured in the Lower South Bahia. Analyses of water, hematological and parasitic. During the research period, water quality, cultivation and Jaguaripe in Graciosa did not differ significantly (p> 0.05). Length, packed cell volume and total plasma protein showed no significant difference. Moreover, weight and number of erythrocytes present difference (p <0.05). We found 43.3% of fish infected with monogenoide Jaguaripe and 73.3% in fish infected with Piscinodinium in Graciosa. Due to the high occurrence parasitic, other studies should be conducted, as there is a possibility of significant economic losses.

O cultivo de tilápias envolve sistemas intensivos e diferentes estratégias, o que pode causar estresse dos peixes e prejuízos econômicos, devido a presença de vários agentes patogênicos. Nesse contexto as variáveis hematológicas são utilizadas como ferramentas de diagnóstico. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi identificar a fauna parasitária e as características hematológicas de tilápias (Oreochromis niloticus) cultivadas na região do Baixo Sul-Bahia. Foram realizadas análises de água, hematológicas e parasitárias. Durante o período da pesquisa, a qualidade da água, do cultivo em Graciosa e Jaguaripe não diferiram significativamente (p>0,05). Comprimento, volume globular e proteína plasmática total não apresentaram diferença significativa. Por outro lado, peso e número de eritrócitos apresentaram diferença (p<0,05). Foram encontrados 43,3% de peixes parasitados com monogenoide em Jaguaripe e 73,3% de peixes parasitados com Piscinodinium, em Graciosa.
