E-mail: rafa.ad@hotmail.com With this study aimed to evaluate bacterial contamination sectors Clinic and Surgery Small Animal Veterinary Hospital UFCG, in order to prevent infections in patients attending hospital. An assessment of the environmental contamination of sectors before and after disinfection, where was collected samples of air, surfaces and hands of people who deal directly with the animals. Then the test was made of the effectiveness of disinfectants used. Of the 40 samples collected, was identified in 5 of them (12.5%) Enterobacteria such as Escherichia coli and Klebisiella pneumoniae and in 22 samples (55%) was identified Staphylococcus coagulase negative and positive. Was seen in the quantitative analysis that the number of cfu in some sample was above the indicated. The test showed that the disinfectant solution was effective against all micro-organisms found in the environments. The results indicate that more attention to procedures performed in the disinfection of areas evaluated, and also include measures to prevent contamination at these sites. |

The results indicate that more attention to procedures performed in the disinfection of areas evaluated, and also include measures to prevent contamination at these sites.Com esse estudo objetivou-se avaliar a contaminação bacteriana nos setores de Clínica e Cirurgia de Pequenos Animais do Hospital Veterinário da UFCG, a fim de se evitar infecções hospitalares em pacientes atendidos. Foi realizada uma avaliação da contaminação ambiental dos setores, antes e após a desinfecção, onde se coletou amostras do ar, das superfícies e das mãos de pessoas que lidam diretamente com os animais. Em seguida foi feito o teste de eficácia dos desinfetantes utilizados. Das 40 amostras coletadas, se identificou em 5 delas (12,5%) Enterobactérias, como a Escherichia coli e Klebisiella pneumoniae e em 22 amostras (55%) se identificou Staphylococcus coagulase negativa e positiva. Na análise quantitativa foi visto que o número de ufc em algumas amostras estava acima do indicado. O teste de desinfetantes demonstrou que a solução foi eficaz contra todos os micro-organismos encontrados nos ambientes.
