Email: luciane-laskoski@hotmail.com Subcutaneous emphysema in horses may have different origins, and the most common are perforations of trachea and cutaneous tissue in regions of intense movement, wich leads to suction of air into the subcutaneous space. This report is about the care of a horse with generalized subcutaneous emphysema secundary to wound in the axilla, whose improvement was daily dressing, antibiotic therapy and restriction of movement. One week after initiation of treatment there was a complete reduction of subcutaneous emphysema, and the wound healed completely after three weeks. We conclude that emphysema secondary to skin wounds have a good prognosis if treated properly.

Sociedade de Medicina Veterinária do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.2015-03-10info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rbmv.org/BJVM/article/view/353Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Medicine; Vol. 37 No. 1 (2015); 93-96Revista Brasileira de Medicina Veterinária; v. 37 n. 1 (2015); 93-962527-21790100-2430reponame:Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Medicineinstname:Sociedade de Medicina Veterinária do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (SOMVERJ)instacron:SBMVporhttps://rbmv.org/BJVM/article/view/353/829Laskoski, Luciane MariaFioravanti, Rafael Alexandre BraimisDoria, Renata Gebara SampaioCarvalho, Mariana Buenode Freitas, Silvio Henriqueinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2020-12-23T17:33:00Zoai:ojs.rbmv.org:article/353Revistahttps://rbmv.org/BJVMONGhttps://rbmv.org/BJVM/oaicontato.rbmv@gmail.com2527-21790100-2430opendoar:2020-12-23T17:33Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Medicine - Sociedade de Medicina Veterinária do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (SOMVERJ)false
