Resumo: This article examines the TV Globo/RJ Partner segment with the objective of contributing to the debate on journalism and democracy. The analysis was performed from a review of literature on the subject and interviews with residents and cultural activists from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. The survey considers that favela residents who participate in the RJ Partner segment are aware of the station's interests in securing a wider audience in the territories where they live, and allow for opportunism to occur in an attempt to give more exposure to their communities.
