Resumo: The families of psychiatric patients, despite being recognized as the main caregivers, do not yet receive the necessary guidance to deal appropriately with their care demands. This situation compromises the treatment and the social reintegration of these patients in the community. Currently, there are tools to evaluate some of these contingencies, but none specifically addressed to investigate social skills (SS) and other skills recognized as crucial to help family caregivers in this task. This study focuses these questions and is structured in two chapters that present the process of developing a rating scale – named as Inventory of Social Skills for Family Caregivers of Psychiatric Patients (IHS-FCPP) - and the preliminary evidences of its psychometric properties. Chapter 1 presents an integrative literature review that showed that family members need a more elaborate SS levels. Concerning interventions, the results showed positive effects. However all instruments used for evaluation were not constructed for contexts and demands of psychiatric patients' caregivers. Considering the situational character of SS and the particular conditions of daily care of psychiatric patients, it was understood as important to produce and validate a specific instrument to evaluate the SS typical of these caregivers' routine. In Chapter 2, the objective was to describe the process and the results of the elaboration of the items and to produce preliminary evidences of validity and reliability of the IHS-FCPP. This chapter was organized in four studies. Study 1 presented the evidences of content validity. The items were elaborated from interviews with family caregivers, professionals from Psychosocial Care Centers and other instruments. Then the validity of content was verified by consulting seven professionals, resulting in a pilot version, tested with a sample of the target population. After the removal of items presenting difficulty of comprehension, a version of 70 items was obtained. Study 2 aimed to analyze evidence of validity based on the internal structure and reliability of the IHS-FCPP. The Exploratory Factor Analysis indicated a structure of three factors, with satisfactory reliability, that were denominated as: F1, SS of Assertiveness and Educational Supervision (HSA&SE); F2, SS of Emotional Support (HSSE); and F3, SS of Affectivity and Empathy (HSAE). Study 3 aimed to verify validity evidences based on the association of HS measurements with external indices of subjective burden and quality of life. The results were consistent with the literature. Study 4 aimed to produce preliminary norms and characterize the SS repertoire in their association with sociodemographic variables. The results showed groups at risk in terms of SS deficits, for example those with lower levels of schooling. As a conclusion for the several studies presented here, preliminary psychometric qualities of the IHS-FCPP are recognized, but also the need for more evidence of validity to recommend its use as a diagnostic tool. It is understood that IHS-FCPP can be used in descriptive research and studies on the effectiveness of interventions aimed at the empowerment of family caregivers of psychiatric patients.

Essa situação compromete o tratamento e a reintegração social desses pacientes na comunidade. Atualmente, existem ferramentas para avaliar algumas dessas contingências, mas nenhuma especificamente para investigar habilidades sociais (HS) e outras habilidades reconhecidas como cruciais para ajudar os cuidadores familiares nessa tarefa. Este estudo enfoca essas questões e está estruturado em dois capítulos que apresentam o processo de desenvolvimento de uma escala de avaliação - denominada Inventário de Habilidades Sociais para Cuidadores Familiares de Pacientes Psiquiátricos (IHS-FCPP) - e as evidências preliminares de suas propriedades psicométricas. O Capítulo 1 apresenta uma revisão integrativa da literatura que mostrou que os familiares necessitam ter níveis mais elaborados de HS. Em relação às intervenções, os resultados mostraram efeitos positivos. No entanto, todos os instrumentos utilizados para avaliação não foram construídos para contextos e demandas de cuidadores de pacientes psiquiátricos. Considerando o caráter situacional das HS e as condições particulares do cuidado cotidiano de pacientes psiquiátricos, entendeu-se como importante produzir e validar um instrumento específico para avaliar as HS próprias da rotina desses cuidadores. No Capítulo 2, o objetivo foi descrever o processo e os resultados da elaboração dos itens e produzir evidências preliminares de validade e confiabilidade do IHS-FCPP. Este capítulo foi organizado em quatro estudos. O Estudo 1 apresentou as evidências de validade de conteúdo. Os itens foram elaborados a partir de entrevistas com familiares cuidadores, profissionais de Centros de Atenção Psicossocial e outros instrumentos. Em seguida, a validade de conteúdo foi verificada por consulta a sete profissionais, resultando em uma versão piloto, testada com uma amostra da população-alvo. Após a remoção de itens com dificuldade de compreensão, foi obtida uma versão de 70 itens. O Estudo 2 teve como objetivo analisar evidências de validade baseadas na estrutura interna e na confiabilidade do IHS-FCPP. A Análise Fatorial Exploratória indicou uma estrutura de três fatores, com fidedignidade satisfatória, que foram denominados como: F1, HS de Assertividade e Supervisão Educacional (HSA&SE), F2, HS de Suporte Emocional (HSSE) e F3, HS de Afetividade e Empatia (HSAE). O Estudo 3 objetivou verificar evidências de validade baseadas na associação das medidas de HS com índices externos de sobrecarga subjetiva e qualidade de vida. Os resultados foram consistentes com a literatura. O Estudo 4 objetivou produzir normas preliminares e caracterizar o repertório de HS em sua associação com variáveis sociodemográficas. Os resultados mostraram grupos em risco em termos de déficits de HS, por exemplo, aqueles com níveis mais baixos de escolaridade. Como conclusão para os diversos estudos aqui apresentados, são reconhecidas as qualidades psicométricas preliminares do IHS-FCPP, porém também a necessidade de mais evidências de validade para recomendar seu uso como ferramenta diagnóstica. Entende-se que o IHS-FCPP pode ser utilizado em pesquisas descritivas e em estudos sobre a efetividade de intervenções voltadas ao empoderamento de cuidadores familiares de pacientes psiquiátricos.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)CAPES: Código de Financiamento 001porUniversidade Federal de São CarlosCâmpus São CarlosPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia - PPGPsiUFSCarHabilidades sociaisCuidadoresPacientes psiquiátricosSaúde mentalPsicometriaSocial skillsCaregiversPsychiatric patientsMental healthPsychometricsHabilidades socialesSalud mentalCIENCIAS HUMANAS::PSICOLOGIA::PSICOLOGIA SOCIAL::RELACOES INTERPESSOAISCIENCIAS HUMANAS::PSICOLOGIA::FUNDAMENTOS E MEDIDAS DA PSICOLOGIACIENCIAS DA SAUDE::SAUDE COLETIVA::SAUDE PUBLICAInventário de Habilidades Sociais para Familiares Cuidadores de Pacientes Psiquiátricos (IHS-FCPP): construção e análises psicométricas preliminaresSocial Skills Inventory for Family Caregivers of Psychiatric Patients (IHS-FCPP): construction and preliminary psychometric analysisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisOnline60060098b5378a-acb7-470f-af9a-3432bcce997ainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Institucional da UFSCARinstname:Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCAR)instacron:UFSCARORIGINALTese de Doutorado - Diego Costa Lima.pdfTese de Doutorado - Diego Costa Lima.pdfapplication/pdf997905https://repositorio.ufscar.br/bitstream/ufscar/11550/1/Tese%20de%20Doutorado%20-%20Diego%20Costa%20Lima.pdf75209c514ed572b5cef5d3ea8043d146MD51LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
