Resumo: The present work aims to treat through the syntactic-semantic-pragmatic interface of the imperative phenomenon in Brazilian Portuguese. For this to be possible, we will present and discuss some theories that have already worked and proposed some hypotheses. Through the field of generative syntax, we will bring Han (2000) together with the argument that imperatives have, at the top of the hierarchy of syntactic structure, an abstract operator [IMP] that determines both its force (directive), through a [directive] and the notion of unrealized action given by [irrealis], both abstract operators that are part of [IMP]. Also in the syntactic field, we will present the behavior of the imperatives when used in conjunction with the modifying adverbs, as treated by Tescari Neto (2008). In addition to the syntax, we will show that there is only one form, canonical, as given by grammars (CUNHA & CINTRA, 1985; ALMEIDA, 1995; BECHARA, 2009), but there are also imperative phrases: ‘Trata de’, ‘Deixa de’, ‘Para de’, ‘Pode’, ‘Nem pensa em’ e ‘Nem me vem com (essa de)’. From the formal Semantic perspective, specifically from the studies of intensionality, the work will deal with aspects already discussed by Portner (2004), with his Theory of Properties; Condoradvi & Lauer (2012), with its Theory of Performativity; and Kaufmann (2014), with his Modal Theory. After this incursion, we will present our own hypothesis: imperatives are, semantically, anchors of reality, as Kratzer (2015) argues, but they are indeed anchors of time, not of possible worlds, like modal verbs. In the semantic field, after presentation of the formalization of imperatives, From the pragmatic perspective, we will point out that the imperatives are sentences that, through the directive Speaking Act (OLIVEIRA, 1996), engage their listeners (or addressee - Ad). Let us proposing two principles to understand them. In the end, we will connect all the aspects brought within the three fields, discussing the relevant parts, the flaws and the ways of adapting them to our theoretical interface proposal. We will have a brief look and discuss two forms that are used in conjunction with them: imperative-like conditions (ILUs) and imperative-like ultimatums (ILUs), as discussed by Jary & Kissine (2014).

Para que isso seja possível, apresentaremos e discutiremos algumas teorias que já trabalharam e propuseram algumas hipóteses. Através do campo da Sintaxe de cunho gerativista, traremos Han (2000) junto à argumentação de que os imperativos têm, na parte superior da hierarquia da estrutura sintática, um operador abstrato [IMP] que determina tanto sua força (diretiva), através de um operador [directive] e a noção de ação não realizada dada por [irrealis], ambos operadores abstratos que fazem parte de [IMP]. Ainda no campo sintático, apresentaremos o comportamento dos imperativos quando em usados em conjunto com os advérbios modalizadores, como tratado por Tescari Neto (2008). Ainda com a Sintaxe, apresentaremos que não existe em português brasileiro apenas uma forma, tida como canônica, como dadas por gramáticas (CUNHA & CINTRA, 1985; ALMEIDA, 1995; BECHARA, 2009), mas sim há também locuções imperativas: ‘Trata de’, ‘Deixa de’, ‘Para de’, ‘Pode’, ‘Nem pensa em’ e ‘Nem me vem com (essa de)’. A partir da perspectiva Semântica formal, especificamente dos estudos da intensionalidade, o trabalho lidará com aspectos já discutidos por Portner (2004), com sua Teoria das Propriedades; Condoradvi & Lauer (2012), com sua Teoria da Performatividade; e Kaufmann (2014), com sua Teoria Modal. Após essa incursão, apresentaremos nossa própria hipótese: os imperativos são, semanticamente, âncoras de realidade, tal qual defende Kratzer (2015), porém são, em verdade, âncoras de tempo, não de mundos possíveis, como os verbos modais. No campo semântico, após apresentação da formalização dos imperativos, vislumbraremos e discutiremos duas formas que são usadas em conjunto a eles: as ILCs (imperative-like conditionals) e ILUs (imperative-like ultimatum), como lidam Jary & Kissine (2014). Sob a perspectiva pragmática, apontaremos que os imperativos são sentenças que, através do Ato de Fala diretivo (OLIVEIRA, 1996), engajam seus ouvintes (ou addressee – Ad). Proporemos dois princípios para compreendê-los. Ao final, conectaremos todos os aspectos trazidos dentro dos três campos, discutindo as partes relevantes, as falhas e as formas de adequá-las à nossa proposta de interface teórica.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)CAPES: 1691446porUniversidade Federal de São CarlosCâmpus São CarlosPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Linguística - PPGLUFSCarImperativosÂncora de realidadeEngajamento de AdInterfaceImperativesReality anchorsAd’s at-issuingInterfaceLINGUISTICA, LETRAS E ARTES::LINGUISTICALeia esta dissertação: descrição e análise de imperativos na interface sintaxe, semântica e pragmáticaRead this dissertation: description and analysis of imperatives on the interface syntax, semantics and pragmaticsinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisOnlinef72eda8a-7ff7-43c2-9a9c-2eb1812c8c1einfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Institucional da UFSCARinstname:Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCAR)instacron:UFSCARORIGINAL[ Yan Masetto Nicolai ] [v. final] (totalmente revisada).pdf[ Yan Masetto Nicolai ] [v. final] (totalmente revisada).pdfVersão final e revisada da dissertaçãoapplication/pdf3011458https://repositorio.ufscar.br/bitstream/ufscar/11118/1/%5b%20Yan%20Masetto%20Nicolai%20%5d%20%5bv.%20final%5d%20%28totalmente%20revisada%29.pdf3589ae15e64d20a368d27673629f41d6MD51LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
