Resumo: The protection, conservation, assessment and monitoring of natural water sources are the foundation for integrated water management and environmental planning of a watershed. Springs are important water sources, they are defined as an environmental system established by geomorphological features or geological structures, in which the outcrop of groundwater occurs in a temporary or perennial way, forming drainage channels downstream. The springs have fundamental ecological and ecosystem functions, as the maintenance of the hydrological cycle, therefore it is necessary to develop mechanisms to guarantee its conservation. The aim of this research was to investigate, identify and analyze parameters, indicators and tools related to assessment, conservation, monitoring and sustainable use of springs, in order to elaborate an integrated assessment tool for their environmental conditions that subsidize water resources management and watershed planning. For this, a Systematic Bibliographic Review (SBR) was developed to identify scientific articles and documents related to springs, showing the different approaches through which, the springs have been studied. After that, those articles and documents were analyzed to find proposals or applications of parameters, indicators, tools and instruments related to assessment, conservation, monitoring, management and/or use of springs. As a result, the list of these parameters, indicators, tools and instruments was obtained and validated by a three-step process (3S): self-validation; scientific validation and social validation. The result of this process was the elaboration of an Integrated Assessment and Monitoring Protocol for Springs (PANÁgua), which was tested through field applications and optimized according to the results of this experience and the significant contributions of the specialists who participated in the validation process. The PANÁgua is a protocol composed by three stages of application and some categories of evaluation that integrate a group of parameters and indicators related to the spring’s conservation state. Finally, this protocol was used to evaluate the environmental conditions of some springs of the Ribeirão do Tamanduá and Córrego Mineirinho watersheds located at the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Many impacts were found with the application of PANÁgua, some of them are the low density of natural vegetation coverage, as well as the erosion and silting processes because of agricultural and livestock activities that predominate in the area. In addition, the evaluation of the water quality showed the presence of total coliforms and high values of electrical conductivity in most springs. Both watersheds evaluated presents different characteristics of the land cover use, that’s why some impacts of the Córrego Mineirinho urban springs were evidenced in more critical conditions, for instance the discharge of sewage and solid waste as springs and the severe degradation of soil in general. The PANÁgua has shown to be a useful and efficient tool that synthesizes and assess the environmental conditions of the springs in a coherent way and can be used to help the environmental agencies in the decision-making processes related to integrated water resource management and watershed environmental planning.

Entre estas fontes de água, encontram-se as nascentes, definidas como um sistema ambiental marcado por uma feição geomorfológica ou estrutura geológica em que ocorre o afloramento da água subterrânea de modo temporário ou perene, formando canais de drenagem a jusante. As nascentes possuem funções ecológicas e ecossistêmicas fundamentais entre as quais está a manutenção do ciclo hidrológico, sendo necessário desenvolver mecanismos para garantir sua conservação. A presente pesquisa se propôs a investigar, identificar e analisar parâmetros, indicadores e ferramentas relacionadas ao monitoramento de nascentes de cursos d’água, para elaborar uma ferramenta de avaliação integrada de suas condições ambientais, visando subsidiar a Gestão Integrada de Recursos Hídricos (GIRH) e o planejamento de bacias hidrográficas. Para isso, foi desenvolvida uma Revisão Bibliográfica Sistemática (RBS) que permitiu levantar artigos e documentos relacionados à esta temática e identificar as principais abordagens científicas por meio das quais têm se estudado as nascentes. Posteriormente, essas referências bibliográficas foram analisadas com o objetivo de identificar propostas e/ou aplicações de parâmetros, indicadores, ferramentas e/ou instrumentos relacionados à avaliação, conservação, monitoramento, gestão e/ou uso de nascentes, obtendo-se uma listagem que foi validada por meio de três etapas: auto-validação; validação científica e validação social. Este processo forneceu as bases para elaborar o Protocolo de Avaliação Integrada e Monitoramento de Nascentes de Cursos d’Água (PANÁgua), que foi testado em campo e otimizado conforme os resultados desta experiência e os aportes significativos dos especialistas, técnicos e científicos, que participaram da trajetória da pesquisa e da validação. O PANÁgua é uma ferramenta constituída por diferentes etapas de aplicação e categorias de avaliação que integram uma série de parâmetros e indicadores, que permitem determinar o estado de conservação de nascentes de cursos d’água. Esta ferramenta foi utilizada na avaliação de algumas nascentes das microbacias hidrográficas do Ribeirão do Tamanduá e Córrego Mineirinho (São Paulo, Brasil). Alguns dos impactos encontrados foram: a baixa densidade da cobertura de vegetação natural nas APPs, a ocorrência de processos erosivos e de assoreamento a causa das atividades agrícolas e pecuárias que predominam no entorno e a contaminação da água dada pela presença de coliformes totais e a alta condutividade elétrica na maioria das nascentes avaliadas. Por serem microbacias com características de uso e ocupação do solo diferentes, alguns impactos das nascentes da microbacia urbana do Córrego Mineirinho foram evidenciados em condições mais críticas, por exemplo o despejo de esgoto e de resíduos sólidos comuns e perigosos, o escoamento de água pluvial e a severa degradação da integridade física do solo. O PANÁgua mostrou ser uma ferramenta útil e eficiente que sintetiza e apresenta as condições ambientais das nascentes de uma forma coerente, auxiliando aos órgãos ambientais nos processos de tomada de decisões relacionados à Gestão Integrada de Recursos Hídricos e o planejamento de bacias hidrográficas.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)CAPES: Código de Financiamento 001porUniversidade Federal de São CarlosCâmpus São CarlosPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Ambientais - PPGCAmUFSCarAvaliação integrada de nascentesMonitoramento de nascentesParâmetros e indicadores para nascentesFerramenta de gestão de recursos hídricosProtocolo de avaliação de nascentesSprings integrated assessmentSprings monitoringParameters and indicators for springsWater management toolSprings assessment protocolCIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRA::GEOCIENCIASCIENCIAS AGRARIAS::RECURSOS FLORESTAIS E ENGENHARIA FLORESTAL::CONSERVACAO DA NATUREZA::CONSERVACAO DE BACIAS HIDROGRAFICASCIENCIAS AGRARIAS::RECURSOS FLORESTAIS E ENGENHARIA FLORESTAL::CONSERVACAO DA NATUREZA::HIDROLOGIA FLORESTALENGENHARIAS::ENGENHARIA SANITARIA::SANEAMENTO AMBIENTALENGENHARIAS::ENGENHARIA SANITARIA::RECURSOS HIDRICOS::PLANEJAMENTO INTEGRADO DOS RECURSOS HIDRICOSAvaliação de condições ambientais de nascentes de cursos de água: ferramenta de subsídio à gestão de recursos hídricos e ao planejamento de bacias hidrográficasAssessment of springs environmental condition: a tool for water resources management and watershed planningEvaluación de las condiciones ambientales de nacientes de cursos de agua: herramienta para subsidiar la gestión de los recursos hídricos y el ordenamiento de cuencas hidrográficasinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesis6 meses após a data da defesa6006008fdab42c-36a8-4977-ae86-3d88c0e08d31info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Institucional da UFSCARinstname:Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCAR)instacron:UFSCARORIGINALRosso_DS_Bco2.pdfRosso_DS_Bco2.pdfDissertaçãoapplication/pdf7424435https://repositorio.ufscar.br/bitstream/ufscar/11741/5/Rosso_DS_Bco2.pdf18a600122bfaa7c7d685d79c9da41d11MD55LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
