The cultivation of sugar cane is intrinsically linked to Brazil's economic development. Currently, producers responsible for cultivating the culture face challenges related to the production environment, strategic and operational planning in order to meet needs and raise production levels. The lack of good planning for the use of early cultivars and the lack of operational planning can impact market supply at the beginning of the harvest, disorganizing the harvest calendar and leading to a reduction in the sucrose content of cultivars that had their early harvest. The study aimed to measure the percentage of medium-cycle sugarcane cultivars that had their harvest anticipated, due to the non-availability of early cultivars. The data correspond to suppliers of a sugar and alcohol plant, where from the productive scenario it was possible to quantify the consequences of an early harvest of cultivars still in the maturation process. The lack of gains in TRS (Total Recoverable Sugar) was the most significant, possibly reaching a reduction of 5.40 kilograms of TRS per ton of sugarcane. Other consequences, such as the disorganization of the harvest calendar and loss of the planting window are also the result of the producer's lack of planning. It is these challenges that can minimize problems related to the anticipation of the harvest and that lead to the reduction of TRS and lower profit for the producer.
