Resumo: This research report aims to describe the semantic behavior of the aspect-temporal inflection of Brazilian Portuguese and its relationship with the concept of (a)telicity and duration. The research is based in Formal Semantics theory, and thus, through an introspective methodology of data analysis and contributions from notions of tense, grammatical aspect (Klein, 1994), and lexical aspect (Vendler, 1957), we sought to demonstrate that combinations between the temporal-aspectual morpheme of events in the past tense of Brazilian Portuguese and the lexicon can generate interpretative differences in declarative sentences. Furthermore, three didactic proposals were developed based on the methodology of active language learning (Pilati, 2017) to address the topics discussed by the theory in Middle School or High School. The research results show that distinguishing between pretérito perfeito and pretérito imperfeito only by the completed versus not completed opposition is limited, failing to capture all the nuances stemming from perfective and imperfective aspects. Thus, it was demonstrated that Formal Semantics makes significant contributions not only to the linguistic analysis of this topic, but also in the elucidation of topics that are often challenging in the classroom, such as verbs and their forms in the past tense of Brazilian Portuguese.

La investigación se fundamenta en la teoría de la Semántica Formal y, por tanto, a través de una metodología introspectiva de análisis de datos y aportes desde las nociones de tiempo lingüístico, aspecto gramatical (Klein, 1994) y aspecto léxico (Vendler, 1967), se buscó demostraron que las combinaciones entre el morfema temporal-aspectual de eventos en tiempo pasado del indicativo portugués brasileño con el léxico pueden generar diferencias interpretativas en oraciones declarativas. Además, se crearon tres propuestas didácticas basadas en la metodología del aprendizaje lingüístico activo (Pilati, 2017) como sugerencia para abordar los temas que aborda la teoría presentada en la educación básica.Este relato de pesquisa tem o objetivo de descrever a semântica da flexão de tempo pretérito do português brasileiro e sua relação com o conceito de (a)telicidade e de duração. A pesquisa tem como base a teoria da Semântica Formal e, por isso, através de uma metodologia introspectiva da análise dos dados e de contribuições das noções de tempo linguístico, aspecto gramatical (Klein, 1994) e aspecto lexical (Vendler, 1967), buscou-se mostrar que as combinações entre o morfema temporal-aspectual dos eventos no pretérito do indicativo do português brasileiro com o léxico podem gerar diferenças interpretativas em sentenças declarativas.
