Resumo: | In recent decades Ecuadorian families have experienced parental absence, divorce, economic crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, conflicts that have altered the interaction and mental health of household members and affected the self-esteem of adolescents. The research purpose was to determine the relationship between family functioning and self-esteem. A non-probabilistic sampling that included 285 students was used. The study was based on a post-positivist paradigm, with a non-experimental, quantitative, descriptive-correlational, and cross-sectional design. Data were collected using the FF-SIL Family Functioning questionnaire and the Rosemberg Self-Esteem scale. Among the main findings it was found that 42.5 % come from moderately functional families and 36.1 % have family dysfunctionality. Meanwhile, 36.1 % have low self-esteem while 34.4 % have medium self-esteem. Family functionality was positively related to self-esteem (r=.553; p<0.05), that is, as family functioning increases or decreases so does self-esteem in adolescents. |

SciELO PreprintsSciELO PreprintsSciELO Preprints2023-04-19info:eu-repo/semantics/preprintinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/preprint/view/594510.1590/SciELOPreprints.5945spahttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/article/view/5945/11440Copyright (c) 2023 Víctor Manuel Pilco Albán, Ana Elizabeth Jaramillo Zambranohttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessAlbán, Víctor Manuel PilcoZambrano, Ana Elizabeth Jaramilloreponame:SciELO Preprintsinstname:Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO)instacron:SCI2023-04-18T20:32:59Zoai:ops.preprints.scielo.org:preprint/5945Servidor de preprintshttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scieloONGhttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/oaiscielo.submission@scielo.orgopendoar:2023-04-18T20:32:59SciELO Preprints - Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO)false |
