Resumo: | Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic, which began in the Wuhan region, China, is a priority in global public health, in Colombia, it has caused 125,016 deaths, for which the national government, seeking a reduction in a fatality, has implemented the National Plan of Vaccination, in the reference insurer, seeking to evaluate this objective, raises the present investigation to compare the lethality before and after the vaccination plan. Methodology: A cross-sectional observational study was carried out with analytical intention, carried out between March 2002 and August 2021, taking as a population the 73,359 confirmed cases with COVID-19 from official sources such as SIVIGILA, SisMuestras, and SEGCOVID, relative frequencies, and crude odds ratios were analyzed and adjusted by Mantel-Haenszel with their 95% confidence intervals of the lethality compared to the pre-and post-vaccination period. Results: a significantly higher lethality before the start of the vaccination plan in men, women, the population aged 60 and over, and residents in the departments of Nariño, Valle, and Cauca, it was also found that it is 23.9% more likely than a patient confirmed with COVID-19 died before the start of the vaccination plan. Discussion: These findings coincide with studies carried out in Argentina and Colombia, where progress in the vaccination process has had a decrease in morbidity and mortality from COVID-19. |
