Resumo: Commelinaceae has a neotropical distribution, mostly tropical, some temperate, occurring throughout the Brazilian territory and has a complex floral morphology, presenting deliquescent flowers. To contribute to the taxonomic knowledge of this family, this study aimed to identify and morphologically characterize the species that occur in the forest fragments of São José Plant, located in Igarassu, Pernambuco State, northeastern Brazil, continuing the series of monographs for the area. Collecting expeditions were carried out in the area between January to November 2019, in addition to study of herbarium material. For the study area, five species were found, belonging to the genera Commelina and Dichorisandra. Identification key, descriptions, illustrations, and comments on geographic distribution and habitats are presented.
